Not getting angry at people on TV
I watched The Voice for the first time ever and all I got out of it was an acute tingle of rage because of David Julien, who said he’d be thinking of a particular girl who doesn’t want him whilst he sang his song. Some of the comments from people and from Twitter after (paraphrased: “I hope the girl sees and changes her mind,” “He’s sweet, what’s not to like about him?”) were… frankly, terrifying.
This girl made a conscious choice not to date him.
I could go on about how he might have stalked her, raped her, abused her, or anything else, but the truth in all probability is that she just doesn’t like him - i.e., she doesn’t need a weighty reason to not date him. She just doesn’t want to date him. So… leave her alone.
Why is TV enforcing this idea that girls can be won round with songs? That they even want to change their mind at all?
I hope the girl saw
and rolled her eyes
and continued with her life without any feelings of guilt.
But seriously I’m not getting angry at people on TV, it’s not worth it because TV is full of stupid people.
I’m going back to my dissertation.
